PSG Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
